Rooms with Street-level Access

Rooms with street level access and your safety

We have a door security system in place on all our external doors. Visitors are asked to press the buzzer to gain entry to the building. A receptionist will release the door from the Reception Desk so that you can enter the building.

Rooms with street level access

Nine out of the eleven rooms at our centre have access from street level. The design of the building makes it impossible to provide wheelchair access to the Bertha Wright Room and Margaret Rowland Room on the upper floor. Access to these rooms is by a staircase from the main foyer.

Disabled parking is subject to availability, as there are limited parking spaces.

If you have concerns about accessibility, please check our access information here or contact the office booking@carrslane.co.uk

Rooms accessible from street level, with straight-forward access to toilets

GROUND FLOOR: Church Room, Fair Trade Shop (Weds-Sat) and Reception:
Disabled access is by an easy ramp from Moor Street Ringway to our main entrance. The male/female toilets are on this floor, and there is a separate toilet with disabled access.

LOWER GROUND FLOOR: Meeting Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7: Disabled access is through the Counselling Centre door near the New Meeting Street end of our street level car park at the back of the building. There is an Entry call button and intercom to the Reception staff in the office above, who will arrange for someone to let you in. (It may be helpful if the office and someone in your group know that you will be coming this way.)

There is level access to a disabled toilet and other unisex toilets from these rooms.

Rooms accessible from street level, with more complicated access to toilets

LOWER GROUND FLOOR: Lounge

Disabled access is through the Centre’s main door in the middle of our street level car park at the back of the building. There is no level access to the toilets from this room; wheelchair users would need to go on to the car park and back in through the Counselling Centre door.

There is an Entry call button and intercom to the Reception staff in the office above, who will arrange for someone to let you in. (Or someone in your group could go via the internal stairways to let you in, or let the office know that you will be coming this way.)
From there, there is level access to a disabled toilet. (Other toilets are accessible up the inside stairs.)

LOWER GROUND FLOOR: Wiseman Room

Disabled and general access is from our street level car park at the back of the building, through the outer door which also serves the bookshop. Toilet facilities are located inside the main building; wheelchair users would need to go on to the car park and back in through the Counselling Centre door.
